THEORIES.

"the relation between what we see and what we know is never settled." - John Berger

From the Ancient world to present day, art is a fundamental reflection of society and culture.

Art manages to hold such a firm grip on culture due to its hugely wide scope of form; portraiture, architecture, landscapes, devotional icons and sculpture to name but a few.

Art is the product of the creator, and the creator is the product of society. Hence we receive a focused opinion  of  society in the art itself. These opinions on society can be just as valuable to us as written accounts.

After all, 'a picture is worth a thousand words.'

Art

Film

Film is a medium like no other. It draws you into a world of imagination, stimulating you to laugh, cry or be downright outraged.

The most emotive of all art forms, film can be both a window for reality and a platform for fantasy.

My film criticism has the singular purpose of 'communicating value' as Stanley Cavell once said. So what are you waiting for?

You ain't seen nothin' yet.
